The Green Mountain Energy Alliance (GMEE) announced today that its first investment in North America in 20 years has delivered results.
The alliance, a new subsidiary of General Electric Co. (GE), is working with GMEE and other global energy investors to develop energy resources and solutions that address climate change and energy security.GMEE is the second major investment in the North American market under the GMEE Fund, which began in 2014.GMEMs first investment, the $1.9 billion Energy-Forward program, has produced results that are far more competitive than those of most energy markets.GMEO’s Energy-Frontiers program, launched in 2017, has led to the expansion of solar and wind energy resources, the development of biofuels, and a wide variety of other energy solutions that will help meet growing energy needs and support climate and energy independence.GMIE and GE also announced today the establishment of the first ever GMEE Energy Investment Fund, a $1 billion fund to support innovative energy solutions.
GMEE has invested $1 trillion in new technologies, equipment, and energy infrastructure since the launch of the Energy-First Initiative.GMCEE’s new Energy-Fortune Fund, created to expand and diversify the global economy by investing in the new and growing energy industries, will support these initiatives.
The Global Climate Leadership Network (GCN), the largest climate fund in the world, announced today it has partnered with GMCEE to create a new Global Climate Action Network, a global network that will drive climate-smart economic growth.GM Energy Investments have also provided support to more than 500 organizations that are working to help support a world that is both energy-secure and climate-neutral.
